Ultimate Oak Smoked Bacon Beef Burger

For the burger:
- 1 red onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 450g beef mince (12%)
- 50g fresh breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
For the burger sauce:
- 2tbsp mayonnaise
- 2tbsp ketchup
- 1tbsp american mustard (you can also use english either)
- 2 gherkins, grated
To serve:
- 1 x pack O'Neills Oak Smoked Streaky Bacon
- 8 slices Irish smoked cheddar cheese
- 4 burger buns, toasted
- 2 large tomatoes, sliced
- 1 x baby gem lettuce, thinly sliced
- 4 onion rings
- First get the burger patties made, put everything in a large bowl and mix together, you can use your hands or a spoon for this. Divide into 8 smaller patties that you can stack or 4 larger patties either (keep in mind that larger patties take longer to cook).
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat. Arrange the bacon in the pan and cook for 10 minutes in total until crispy.
- Add the patties to this pan and cook for 3-4 minutes each side until browned and cooked through. Add a slice of cheese to each pattie along with a splash of water to the pan and pop the lid on top. Let the cheese melt.
- For the burger sauce; all you need to do is stir it all together in a bowl and it’s ready to go.
- Now to build your burger! Spread the base of the buns with the sauce. Add the burger patties, one on top of the other. Followed by the tomato, bacon, lettuce and onion ring.
- Serve with chips and enjoy!
